The Ogallala Women's Resource Center finalized the organizational process and began receiving clients in January, 2003. In March of 2004, it was recognized as a 501(c)(3) organization. The Center is governed by a seven-member board of directors. The center serves Nebraska residents within an approximate 60-mile radius of Ogallala. With the exception of the executive director (a part-time position), all persons associated with the Center serve on a voluntary basis. Clients are seen by Life Mentors (peer mentors) who commit to a minimum of 21 hours of training before beginning their service to the center.
Operational expenses and the free services provided by the Ogallala Women's Resource Center are funded entirely by the donations from individuals, organizations, churches and businesses. Funding is not sought nor received from governmental agencies.
